Went in today with my sisters and mom. For the mochi ice cream we got hojicha, vanilla, chocolate and matcha. All flavors were quite delicious. While my mom got the strawberry a crepe with chocolate ice cream. For the same price point you’re better off buying mochi ice cream in stores.

I really wanted Wakaba to work and after enough visits, I think three stars is where it lands. Japanese crepes have become weirdly hard to find around the South Bay, so when this place opened I was genuinely excited. We’ve been coming since the beginning and have worked through a pretty good chunk of the menu. Sweet, savory, tuna, sausage, fruit, ice cream, mochi. There’s a lot here that I like. The tangerine and yuzu crepe is delicious. Bright, sweet, tart, refreshing, probably the best thing I’ve had here. The mochi ice cream was excellent too. The tuna crepe works, although mine was buried under a little too much Kewpie style mayo. At least the lettuce underneath stayed crisp, which gave it some needed texture. And that brings me to the crepe. The flavor is good. The batter has a pleasant chew. But every one I’ve had has been soft from edge to edge. I keep waiting for that whisper thin crispness around the exterior, something to contrast the softer center, and it just never arrives. Instead, it tends to eat a little mushy. Not bad. Just less interesting than it should be. If I were reviewing the food alone, Wakaba would probably be closer to four stars. The reason it ends up

I’ve been wanting to visit WAKABA Crepe in Gardena for the longest time, and the beautiful, warm California weather finally gave me the perfect excuse to drop by! The interior is incredibly cute, neat, and clean. Ordering is entirely kiosk-based, and they have a small chair inside where you can wait comfortably. There were about three staff members working, and our crepe took around 5 to 10 minutes to come out. Because of the digital kiosk barrier, it loses a bit of that traditional Japanese shop vibe, but the freshly made crepes absolutely make up for it—they are truly delicious! We tried the Strawberry Matcha Crepe, and it was fantastic. Another huge plus is that it’s located right next to Nijiya Market, making it super convenient to stop by before or after grocery shopping.

Wakaba Japanese Crepe just opened up in my neighborhood. Took my family there. We got the mango coconut crepe and the strawberry matcha creme crepe. While the crepes were tasty - particularly the strawberry matcha one, it was pretty pricey. I know it is hard for small businesses right now, but it was hard to justify $25 for two crepes, no matter how beautiful they were. There is one table with seating inside, very cute, and one bench. We ate ours (party of three) outside.
